Main Sewer Connections

ASL Ltd have special expertise and experience in dealing with the treatment of waste, where there is no connection to main sewers.

In our opinion, many existing tanks can often be upgraded or modernised to serve recently extended large properties.

The system, once upgraded, will have no difficulty coping with modern living i.e. with the use of washing machines, dishwashers and other kitchen appliances. Older tanks can have the capacity or capability required for modern living. To give you an example, after an internal wall has been built, when surges of water enter the tank, such as when a bath or washing machine is emptied, because there is separation in the tank, sewage and sewage water will not get so stirred up, preventing solids and fats from being flushed through the system and into the soakaways, where they could cause irreparable damage.
Buying a House? You must watch this:

We believe that the supply and installation of one of our treatment plants would provide the best long term solution. We have found our treatment plants to be robust and very reliable in use. The treatment plant has the advantage of very few moving parts, so there is less to go wrong mechanically, and they only require emptying down annually, rather than every 4 - 6 months, so this much more convenient, and cost effective.

At ASL Ltd, we use only the best products: Titan, Klargester & Balmoral tanks. We make sure that the particular installation which is chosen is the correct choice for your particular site.
These are suitable for populations from 6 to 18. These treatment plants are of the Titan Biotec below ground sewage treatment plants. These plants are of the aerated exposed media type.

Plants are also available for larger applications.
These are suitable for 2 to 6 people, with soakaways designed to cope with the population and ground conditions. Anymore six people using a septic tank system can jeopardise the operation of the system and could cause waste to flow directly to the soakaways as septic tanks work on the process of settlement.

New Sewer Connections - (Domestic and Commercial)
If you have a new or old property and mains drainage (foul or storm water) is possibly available then it is likely that you will require a sewer connection survey or investigation. As most sewers are often in the public highway, any excavation will then come under The New Roads and Street Works Act 1991.

ASL Limited are accredited contractors and we can apply on your behalf to obtain a road opening permit. All the documentation will be carried out by are friendly office staff and we will arrange all necessary inspections.
Sewer connections do require initial planning and we would be pleased to offer our advice for your project. We will submit plans on your behalf once we have carried out a survey and search.
ASL Ltd is incorporated in England and Wales with registration No. 3648095
The minimum requirement as per building regulations is 4,000 gallons

Although you are allowed to have a cesspit, it's not recommended as it is containment only, and needs to be emptied every 8-13 weeks. It can be a shorter or longer period depending on usage.

In the future when you sell your house, a cess pit, in our professional opinion, will de-value the property by probably £20,000. In our experience, buyers avoid houses with cesspits because of high maintenance costs.

One of the most important decisions is the choice of the right sewage disposal system for your home, or particular site. The choice of solutions is quite varied, and there are many factors to be taken into account, including current legislation and any potential environmental impact.
We supply and install, maintain, or repair, septic tanks and sewage treatment plants.  All upgraded plants or new treatment plants use the extended aeration method to break down and treat sewage. This method of waste water treatment is very effective and has many benefits. We also have a modern solution for septic tank replacement. Please feel free to browse our website for further information,  or watch our video on the installation of a septic tank or treatment plant. See and hear our senior engineer. Soakaways are also to disperse liquid from a septic tank or treatment plant. Soakaways are constructed by the excavation of trenches or pits, or a combination of the two. These trenches/pits are then filled with clean flint stone and covered with a  membrane. The fluid is dispersed by way of pipes with slots or holes, and often concrete or glass fibre chambers are installed for many reasons including a more even distribution of liquid. This is constructed entirely below ground.

The performance of any soakaway is affected by the size of the property being served, the porosity of the ground into which the soakaway is to be installed, and the type of tank being served, i.e. septic tank or treatment plant.

Natural ground water also plays an important factor in the type of system being used.  In case of a treatment plant system, if the natural water table rises above the base of the soak-away, its capability to work is greatly reduced.

We can overcome high water table conditions by the use of a water pump unit. These units can be accommodated inside some treatment plants or added separately to the outside
